Home Minister Says Administration Must Avoid Wrong Direction; Bangladesh’s Politics Faces Criticism at the UN
Dhaka, Bangladesh: The government has no plan to launch an operation similar to the controversial ‘Operation Clean Heart’, Home Minister said, dismissing speculation that such a special operation could be undertaken to tackle crime and restore law and order.
The Home Minister said the government believes that law enforcement agencies and the administration must perform their duties within the framework of the law and should not move in a wrong direction.
He emphasized that maintaining public safety, controlling crime and ensuring law and order remain among the government’s key priorities. However, he said any action taken by the authorities must comply with legal procedures and respect the rights of citizens.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s current political situation has come under increasing discussion and criticism. Political developments, administrative decisions and disputes among major political parties have drawn attention both nationally and internationally.
The minister also spoke about the need for greater discipline and accountability within the administration, stressing that officials must perform their responsibilities with professionalism and impartiality.
Political observers, meanwhile, say the country’s political environment has become increasingly contentious, with disagreements between the government and opposition parties continuing to dominate public debate.
The role of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its political leadership has also remained a major subject of discussion. Critics argue that the country’s political confrontations have at times damaged Bangladesh’s image abroad.
There have also been claims that Bangladesh’s political developments have attracted attention at the United Nations, with some critics describing certain political statements and developments as embarrassing for the country on the international stage.
However, government officials and political leaders have continued to defend their respective positions, while calling for stability, democratic practices and respect for the rule of law.
The Home Minister reiterated that the government would continue to take necessary measures against criminals and those involved in activities threatening public security, but said there was no plan at present to repeat an operation like ‘Operation Clean Heart’.
The government, he said, wants the administration and law-enforcement agencies to move forward through lawful, accountable and institutional mechanisms rather than through extraordinary measures.
